Thank you to everyone who has signed up to the LAX LAB 2.0 | school of climate fiction community and book club so far. It is still early days and there are not too many of us just yet, but I am hopeful that the community will continue to grow. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining, please do share and invite!
While we wait patiently for more people to sign up and before announcing our first book, I would love to hear from you. This is also a good opportunity to test out the Threads function in Substack and get our first discussion going.
What climate fiction books are you interested in reading together? Are there any relevant books that are on your to-read list? Any authors or genres that you are particularly keen on exploring? Are there any books that you think everyone should read?
I will start the conversation! I have a towering pile of climate fiction books waiting to be read, many of which I am hoping we will read together.
North American and European authors dominate my collection, many of whom write in English. There are significant linguistic and geographic omissions that I would like to address.
Can you recommend climate fiction works written in other languages and translated into English? Do you have suggestions of books written by authors from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, etcetera?
I can only agree with you, Emma. I would also love to read some climate fiction that was written in other languages and then translated. I’ll keep my eyes open :-)
Additionally, I would also appreciate it if we could read works that center around animals (generally) and/or species that are endangered.
I’m very much looking forward to the first discussion. Thank you for everything, Emma! ❤️
Hi Claudia! That's wonderful. So nice to meet you. I'm moving my existing book club over to Substack, still learning how to use it. It seems great so far. :)

Thank you Carolin! ❤️
Great suggestion to read some works that center around animals. I am going to look into this some more. I have a few titles in mind already.
I am waiting for some more people to sign up before the first book. Looking forward to it too!
Hi Emma, I'm also organising a climate fiction club on Substack!
